What we liked: Polka dots, edgy sportswear look, Yohji Yamamoto's signature style showing through more than last season, cozy sweatshirt material looks What we didn't: A little redundant at times Who: Jason Wu What it made us think of: A lesson in how to reference period costume (baroque in this case) while staying current and not looking like you're actually wearing a costume What we liked: Lace, frills, sparkles, skirts, pretty gowns, styling, menswear pieces mixing well in a ladylike collection What we didn't: --- Who: Christian Siriano What it made us think of: An improvement on last season What we liked: The beginning pieces in black with lots of texture edge and wearable items, wide leg pants, the shoes, the jackets What we didn't: The shiny dresses with awkward gathering. Who: Philosophy What it made us think of: Easter, 1965 What we liked: pleat skirts, pastel plaid, 60s silhouettes, adorable coats, lace, mary janes What we didn't: Look, I understand clothing is becoming seasonless, but I just can't wear this for fall/winter. Who: Jen Kao What it made us think of: If I were a space princess-punker in Rio, this is what I'd wear. What we liked: navy satin combat boots, fringe, brights for fall, structured jackets, sparkle tights, the knit that looks like chain mail , What we didn't: macreme, pants with accordion pleat flares Who: Jeremy Scott What it made us think of: This is the sort of cheek Heatherette was going for with their trashy nightmares. What we liked: metal mesh tanks, hot pink furry shoes, stoles that looked like plushie carnival prizes, colorful stripes, skeleton knits , a crystal embellished clear rain coat , mary janes What we didn't: Much more Spring/Summer than Fall/Winter. Shop: Mangled Courtesan Why We Love It: The shop is small with only a few offerings, but the intricate pieces are fascinating. These pieces are far from affordable, but the craftsmanship is worth the price. For all the Project Runway fans, this is the work of April Johnston from Season 8. Katy Perry did something that doesn't irritate me! She recently teamed up with OPI to release a line of nail polishes in lurid Vegas colors. Not so interesting. But the mini collection was topped off with Black Shatter , a black polish that gives your manicure a crackle effect. Black Shatter is sold out in most stores, but you can pick it up from Amazon for $11. There's also a cheaper version of black crackle polish from MIA for only $5.45 If any of you have tried crackle polish, tell us what you think!

Mendel What it made us think of: Art deco goes tribal and feminine What we liked: Deco/tribal prints, mixed textures, textured leggings, What we didn't: Lack of color, overwhelming furs, fewer great dresses than usual (unless the ones obscured by coats were fabulous, but I couldn't see them to tell) Who: Marchesa What it made us think of: A ghost from the Victorian era who haunted the ever-changing occupants of her mansion and steals lace and jewels to adorn her decaying wardrobe. What we liked: Lace, sparkles, sleeves, textured legwear, lace socks, couture feel, everything What we didn't: ---

Heavy shoes are the hot thing right now. Big wedges, thick straps, multiple buckles, and platforms . Statements that can't be missed. I constantly see people complain about them when they appear on the red carpet. "Shoes should be dainty!" they cry. "Those aren't flattering!" All of these shoes are available at Sole Struck . This trend can certainly be difficult to style, but that in and of themselves doesn't make heavy shoes ugly. When an actress shows up at the premier her movie in a bouncy dress and platform wedges with a wide ankle strap, she looks shackled, not grounded. But if you have other heavy, casual pieces, your outfit has balance. I'm not sure Karl thinks about how the shoes fit the clothes for Chanel, because I can't imagine these pieces really being worn together. What we liked: sequins, texture, 70s pants, graphic prints, girly heels, snake heels, thigh high suede boots, black chokers What we didn't: Please let jumpsuits die. Who: Malandrino What it made us think of: Almost Famous + Gossip Girl What we liked: hats, color, texture, lizard booties What we didn't: The gloves not only felt out of place, but they pushed the looks into over accessorized. We hate fake glasses. Who: Chris Benz What it made us think of: Benz's muse is clearly an indie rock chanteuse with a penchant for Oscar Wilde and a longing to wear Westwood. What we liked: There's a lot of office inspiration in this trendy designer. Cool jackets, buttons!, brocade pants, turquoise eyeshadow, pops of yellow, tiny fringe bags, What we didn't: The layering didn't always work, but I can't fault the guy...
