New York Fashion Week FW 2011: Badgley Mischka, J. Mendel, Marchesa

Who: Badgley Mischka
What it made us think of: Hollywood's screen greats in the 30s & 40s.
What we liked: Vintage glam, shoulders, technicolor dresses, bright & shiny long leather gloves, sparkle tights, jeweled details
What we didn't: Some back and side skirt ruffs and poofs seemed tacked on; textured/striped fabric with daisy imprint Who: J. Mendel
What it made us think of: Art deco goes tribal and feminine
What we liked: Deco/tribal prints, mixed textures, textured leggings,
What we didn't: Lack of color, overwhelming furs, fewer great dresses than usual (unless the ones obscured by coats were fabulous, but I couldn't see them to tell) Who: Marchesa
What it made us think of: A ghost from the Victorian era who haunted the ever-changing occupants of her mansion and steals lace and jewels to adorn her decaying wardrobe.
What we liked: Lace, sparkles, sleeves, textured legwear, lace socks, couture feel, everything
What we didn't: ---
