Target used to be the darling of the designer diffusion line. It's been a few years since those glory days, but I think we're all anxious to see a return. Perhaps Victoria Beckham could be the one to usher in a new era of Target collections. The collection has a few things going for it. Target is offering the collection up to a size 26W. (Plus sizes will only be available at select stores and online, unfortunately). A cute collection of girls, toddler and baby clothes accompanies the adult collection. According to Target, most items will be under $40 with nothing topping $70. You can see the whole collection on Target's site . It's available April 9th. Here are a few FMF favorites. I love a good pair of linen pants, but a good pair can be pricey. That's why I wrote about these Target linen pants back in 2011 . They used to carry them every year, but the last two years they've either drastically changed them or skipped them all together. This year they are back and better than ever! The pants have always had a drawstring waist, which I felt compelled to cover up. It was never the most attractive, but the pants this year but a much nicer waistline. It's still a drawstring, but the band for the waist is wider and more flattering than some of the previous versions Target has offered. First, a public service announcement from Donna and Tom. I've been working 50 hour weeks for a month doing more than one person's job. Becca's in the same boat. We're so tired, but now that it's almost over, it's time to treat yo self! The Altuzarra for Target collaboration coming September 14th is just the ticket. I love the orchid prints. That crane embroidered sweater will be mine. How did they know burgundy is my favorite color? These five pieces will be in my closet asap. The collection also includes a few suits (love the velvet one but I doubt my hips will let me go there), trench coats, snake print pieces, professional blouses, shoes, boots, a faux fur jacket, a pajama set, and a couple maxi dresses that could moonlight as gowns. Most of Target's designer collaborations skew young, but these pieces feel like they were made for a stylish woman in her 30s who has her life together and really doesn't care about what One Direction is doing. ...

It's fashion week so Target must have a designer diffusion for us. While nothing in this collection has me ready to camp out at Target before the release, I will be trying to get my hands on a lot of the pieces. The skirts, cardigan, tops and jackets have a lot of potential to brighten up my basics for spring and beyond. A few bold statement pieces can go a long way and this collection looks like it could provide a few. Are you hoping to get any specific? 3.1 Phillip Lim is one of our favorite contemporary designers. His cuts are sleek but figure friendly, and his details are unexpected and cool. We were pretty happy to hear about his collaboration with Target. Of course, the eternal question with these designer capsule collections is "Can they make it work for under $100?" This is also were modern designers flounder. A design that works perfectly in a lux wool may not lay correctly when done in acrylic yarn. Intricate beading may look cheap when sewn by machine not by hand. So how did 3.1 Phillip Lim do? Well, this doesn't feel like a collection so much as scraps of ideas. We have a nice suit, party dress, work wear, and casual attire, but nothing ties together. The broken floral and comic book prints are much more interesting than the off-color animal print. (None of those prints should be in the same collection.) The tailored pieces like the tux dress or contrast trim trench coat work better than the baggy sweaters....

Earlier this week, Jael posted a super cute jacket for our pick of the week. This reminded me of my jacket shopping frenzy at Target last week. This fall when I headed to nearly every store to find a nice jacket for a job interview--nothing. But this spring there seems to be an endless supply--and many of my favorites are at Target. Sadly, my better financial judgement forced me to trim the jacket haul down to two, but I could have easily bought most of these in every color. (I did buy the black version of the teal one in the center. The peplum zips off to make a cropped jacket. I may need to get the teal one too. It's two jackets for the price of one!) A year and a half ago, I wrote about the Mossimo Micro Rib tank as a pick of the week . Like most things at Target, I expected it to vanish with the season. At first, they brought it back slightly changed. The fabric blend had less modal and more spandex, which made for a far too stretchy and ill-fitting tank. But they quickly fixed it. I now own about seven of these tanks in various colors. They are the best layering tops I've ever owned. In the summer I like to layer two together and pair them with a cute skirt. In the fall and spring they are perfect under a light, sheer top. Now that the weather is turning colder, I love to layer them under cowl and v-neck sweaters or pair them with cardigans. They come in a huge variety of colors, and now Target is offering a sparkly version, which will look great with Christmas sweaters and casual party looks. They hold up great in the wash (though I usually skip the dryer to give them a longer life), and I wash them a lot. My original ...

Sunday, Target premiered a series of five mini shops within their stores. Each shop has a small boutique section (or in some cases, shelf) in the corresponding department of the store. The shops include The Webster, a clothing boutique from Miami; Privet House, a home goods emporium from Connecticut; Cos Bar, a beauty shop from Aspen; Polka Dot Dog Bakery from Boston; and The Candy Store from San Francisco. Since this is a fashion blog, I'll focus on The Webster and Cos Bar. The selections from each shop were quite small, but extremely well chosen. Target also stayed quite close to their usual price range, which they have been wandering far above for their last several designer collaborations. While not all the products appear to be in all the stores (my constant complaint with Target), each store seems to have a nice selection of the best of each shop. Oh, Target. It seems like I cover the same complaints every time I review one of your designer collections? Can't you just make things better? Is it really that hard to tell us which stores will be carrying a collection and which won't? Can't you send a full or close to full line to the stores you do stock? Once again, Target has only release their designer collection to select stores, but you'll have to call or drive around to figure out which ones because I can't find a list on the website anywhere. They also didn't send the full collection to all of the stores. I visited two stores this morning (and I'm sick, look at all I do for you, dear readers). The first had tops and a couple dresses, but no accessories. In fact they only had two little, mostly empty display racks (one is pictured). They had had the bags but were sold out. Missoni's Target line launched this morning, and it's their best collection since the McQ Alexander McQueen line. Only this time accessories are the highlight of this line, at least compared to the limited line of clothing released to the stores here in Metro Detroit. I apologize for the lack of links and exact prices. I didn't write them all down while I was shopping, and the frenzy over the line has crashed Target's entire website (even their press room). See more images in our preview of the line . The men's scarves (that I saw) are a wool blend. The women's winter scarves are a toss up with some wool blends and some full synthetics. The pretty neck scarves (pictured top right), however, are 100% washable silk and cost only $19.99, which is probably one of the better deals in the line. The pajamas and underpinnings didn't catch my eye in the lookbook, but they certainly did in the stores (but maybe that's because they didn't have much clothing in ...

It's been a while since I've been excited about a Target designer collaboration. The last several have been disappointing or so minor they register on my radar. Targets new Missoni collection, due to debut in stores September 13, has my attention. This is the broadest designer range we've seen Target tackle. They aren't just offering women's clothing and accessories. They've expanded the line to include girls clothing, menswear, shoes, accessories, home decor, patio furniture and even a bicycle. The prices range from $2.99 to $599.99, but Target reports that most items will stay under $40 (whew!). In the past, I've seen Target struggle with intricate designs while trying to keep the cost low. These collaborations resulted in some cute looking clothes that didn't quite fit right or consisted of horrible materials. I think Missoni is an ideal collaboration (and I hope I'm not speaking too soon) because the brand's main focus is their iconic prin...

I love to layer so I love a good layering tank. During the summer I also love something comfy to wear while I water my herbs, read by the pool and do pilates. I need a soft, cool tank to sleep in too. I've found the one tank top that can do all of that for $9. The micro-ribbed tank from Target is made of cotton and modal (yay soft!) with just a bit of spandex to keep it's shape. It layers well; it can be dressed up and down; it comes in six colors ( exotic pink is pictured, underwater jade , blue whale , fresh white , concord grape , black ); and it's oh so comfy.
