Punjammies

Image
Sleep became very important to us last week. Flying to Japan wasn't that big of a deal; two days of jet lag, that's it. Flying back, however, was a nightmare. One week later, and we're still up at 3a.m. When my friend showed me some super colorful, print jammie pants, I was pretty excited. After all, I both love and miss sleep. When I saw that Punjammies are made by Indian women rescued from forced prostitution as a means of teaching them a skill and providing holistic care for their new life, I was very excited. The welfare of women is Asia has always been a cause close to my heart. Click here to learn more about the International Princess Project and what they're doing to help enslaved women.

Summer Pajama Sets

I've been sick a lot lately. I'm allergic to nature so spring and early summer are always terrible for my allergies. This year has been the worst. Because of that, I've spent a lot of time sleeping and a lot of non-sleeping time cuddled up in my pajamas. Of course, being sick doesn't mean I can't at least feel cute in my jammies. Slippers

A few Christmases ago, Grandma bought me some fluffy foam slippers. They're not what I would have picked out, but as soon as I get home, I'm putting them on. Lesson learned: Grandma knows her slippers. If you're looking for a cute pair to keep your tootsies warm while you sip cocoa this winter, check out my round up below. Clockwise from top left: pink fuzzy slipper, Steve Madden at Nordstrom $19.90 cool stripe sock slipper, Old Navy $12.50 lined plaid slippers, American Eagle $11.95 lined bow slipper, Top Shop $24 pleather moccasin, Urban Outfitters $18 Clockwise from top left: ruffle trim slippers, Victoria's Secret $25 sequin bow slippers, Forever 21 $6.80 ribbon slipper boot, Charlotte Russe $14.99 wedge slippers, Daniel Green on Amazon $55-$67 fuzzy boots, Nordstrom $36

I Need New Pajamas

Image
I prefer pajamas over sleeping in sweats. Jammies are cute, while sweats make me feel like I should be recovering from the flu. My last pair of jammie pants has crossed into grody territory, so I want to buy some new ones. I love the understated print on these pants from Anthropologie ; it's like the marblized pages of an old book. Unfortunately, they're $48. Too much for thin cotton. Target has cute pants with classic prints as well, but these yellow striped ones are only $12.99. Considering how often I blog in my pjs (and spill coffee on them), a cheap pair will last me long enough.

Save or Splurge: Slippers

Image
In the cold winter months, slippers are a must for keeping toes warm. I just moved to an apartment with wood floors so my slippers have become even more important. It took me a few years to find my pair of slippers (mostly because size 11 slippers at a reasonable price are harder to find). I wanted slippers that were warm and fit, but I didn't want to pay a lot for them. I put a $15 cap on the price of slippers and eventually found an $8 pair at Kmart. They're great. Since slippers never get worn outside and don't need to have as much support for your feet as walking shoes need to have, slippers are a save for me rather than a splurge. I've never had a problem with them falling apart quickly, and I don't have a problem finding cute and comfy slippers at good prices. Do you save or splurge on warmth for your toes? Heavenly Vintage Lingerie

Image
We have a constant complaint of not being able to find good slips . No more! Heavenly Vintage Lingerie stocks excellent slips, corsets, and nightgowns for those of us who think sexy leaves something to the imagination. They're collection ranges from the 1920s to the 1980s. The prices are slightly higher than what you'd pay for a modern slip (especially for pieces that look like they came off Ava Gardner), but it's worth it for that killer bit of lingerie. Plus, Heavenly Vintage is running a 15% off promotion through January 24. pink and black embroidered full slip $55
