I've been searching for a cute rain boot for about seven years. Most traditional rain boots don't go up to a size 11. Also, most rain boots run narrow in the calf. I've finally found a pair. They are cute, they lace up. They are high quality so they won't crack like the last pair I had. And, they are comfortable--so comfortable! These Tretorn Plask Lace boots come with a removable massage insole that make them a joy to walk in. I nabbed mine when they were on sale for $60, which they aren't right now. (Currently they are $110 on Amazon unless you want the red ones for $48!) Keep an eye out because I'm sure they'll come around again.

If you've been boot shopping, you've seen that Motorcycle boots have taken over the shoe shelves. They are everywhere. I love them. I've tried on nearly every pair for sale this season. (And still haven't found the right ones!) They are warm, can stand up to the rough Michigan winter, and the right pair offers an edgy anchor to my winter uniform of cuddly sweaters, cute skirts and bright tights/leggings. I usually prefer the traditional black moto boots, but there are so many great new takes on the moto boot that even if they aren't normally for you, you can find one that might suit your style surprisingly well. While I love a good snow at Christmastime, I dread the wet white stuff most of the time. I especially loathe it on those freezing cold mornings when I wake up late and have to muster everything inside of me to leave my nice warm bed only to see my car covered in a foot of snow. This is not a morning I worry about style. This is a morning I throw on something warm and comfy (sweater dress and leggings please) and look for the most practical footwear I own. (This is also the morning I consider drinking directly from the coffee pot.) Far and away, the most popular shoe we've ever featured was Poetic Licence's Victorian tapestry boot . Even during dead of summer heat waves, people click on that boot. Either you all enjoy feeling like proper ladies or we have a bunch of cos-players in the audience. Both sound good to me. Pleaser had started as a fetish shoe company -- six inch lucite spikes and platforms with slots for tips. Not cute and not for most women. Pleaser still isn't for most women, but they seem to have branched into cosplay with their Funtasma line. That well-named line offers a variety of shoes for lovers of everything from anime to steampunk. The beautiful gold and black scroll work on " Victorian-45 " sent me on this peculiar shoe hunt. If you even slightly like Victorian style, you have to love this boot. It's required. For me, riding boots are the perfect winter boot. They cover my calves, keep the snow off, have enough of a heel to combat falls, and look stylish. As there's a neon red version of the "Belina" by Sacha London , I considered putting them in last week's colorful boots post. However, I thought the red version looked more like something from a child's dress up kit whereas the grey ones are very city chic. The little silver rimmed pearl buttons and slender heel look so very refined, as well they should at $275. I'd love to see them with Black Halo's Jackie O dress or a tweed skirt and cashmere sweater. Unfortunately this is a fantasy land for me because grey suede cannot live in harmony with Indiana weather. No doubt, among our readers we have quite a few costume enthusiasts. Well, those readers may want to settle in on their fainting couches because the "Lady Victoria" boot from Poetic Licence is seriously costumey. Some people are very against the idea of looking too period lest you be costumey, but we think it's just fine. And accessories like shoes and jewelry are a fun way to tinge an outfit with your personality when the occasion is otherwise more sartorially conservative. However, I think the black and cream versions of these boots are fugly as all get out. (Getting out is quite fugly.) I just can't see them going with anything. The brown, maybe. Even so, the height of the boot is awkward and I can't help but think about how dirty they'd get after of few days in sidewalk-free Indiana. Do you like them? If so, what would you wear them with?

As I've seen versions of this ubiquitous shoe everywhere from Target to Net-a-Porter, it must be the shoe of the season. I sort of growl that last bit like it's a phrase from a horror movie trailer, because that's how I feel about these shoes. They're horrible and predictable. (They may kill teenagers, too, for all I know.) They would look awkward with dresses, and they're horribly plain. becca and I felt the fold-over version is maybe doable, but the ones with eh contrast wedge must go away. How do you feel about them? Want real leather, but can't afford it? Once again, it's Target to the rescue! (We're not sponsored by them, I swear.) Aside from the usual name-brand replicas in various budget materials, this season Target has a variety of honest-to-goodness came-from-a-cow leather boots available for prices you can afford without taking out a loan. Snake skin and print was all over the Fall/Winter 2011 runway; now it's all over shoes and accessories . I'm okay with some of it, but I have words for these colorful snake-trimmed boots from Prada. Specifically: gaudy, ew, and there's a lot of lot there. However, I've yet to see any print boot that makes me swoony. Perhaps you love their nerdy, retro whimsy and can't wait for Steve Madden to knock them off. Let me hear it in the comments.

I live in Michigan. The only other place I've lived is Chicago. These places are very cold in the winter. On blustery, snowy days fashion is far less a priority than is staying warm.
