Two beauty trends have emerged so far in fashion week: androgyny and nontraditional eyeshadow. Nontraditional eyeshadow has involved unexpected colors like bright pink and modish placements of makeup. Androgyny, the much stronger of the trends, has taken the form of bleached brows, strong brows, boyish hair, and an overall nude face. For several shows, this has also meant comb overs. There has been little in the way of blush, lashes or bold lips. You can imagine which of these trends I like best. As such, this gallery features the more interesting looks because you know exactly what no makeup and messy hair look like. We plebeians call it morning. Tokyo Milk has figured out how to bottle the scent of a jazz singer in 1930s Shanghai who is secretly an assassin. Their Dark collection is all about the femme fatale with names like Bullet Proof , La Vie La Mort , and Arsenic . Like the great femme fatales of the silver screen these scents are strong and spicy. Arsenic bears notes of absinthe, vanilla salt, cut greens, and crushed fennel. My favorite scent, Excess , smells like amber resin, oak bark, blood orange, and patchouli. Even the sugared Bittersweet , scented with cake flour and cocoa, is most likely packing a switchblade. And according to a typo on Amazon, Everything and Nothing contains Ood . Speaking of Amazon, Tokyo Milk's Dark collection is $10 off on Amazon making these excellent perfumes less than $30. If perfumes aren't your thing, they also carry hand creams and lip balms .  No Doctor Who aliens were harmed in the making of this post.

The overall coat trend seems to be moving toward blankets and cocoons. The less figure-conforming, the better. Not sure what to think about that, but I can ignore it until it hits stores. We love girly things. When we're not going all Viktor & Rolf with ruffles and bows and pink, we like to at least mix a little something feminine in with our jeans and sweaters. However, when you embrace the girly with both arms, you have to be careful about going over the top. (Unless your MO is to throw caution to the wind.) Even with khakis, the world's most boring pants, this lilac rose halter may be too girly for my 30 years. It even has a ribbon tie at the neck. I'd still try it with jeans though. Then I'd try it with a tutu and sequin shoes. Does this aggressively girly top rot your teeth with sweetness or is it perfect for your cupcake party?

Under the Gunn: Episode 5 Recap And then there were nine. Week five finally brings us the demise of the season’s most annoying designer. Isabelle is out. She was so tedious she forced Tim Gun to raise his voice on multiple occasions. She never listened to the “time’s up” rule. She wouldn’t listen to her mentor Nick when he tried to help her. She even chased her model and garment down the hallway when Tim finally dragged it to the line for the runway. One of the show’s product team members had to pull her back because she simply wouldn’t listen. Stay tuned for more on the Isabelle situation. The challenge itself was a fun one. The designers were tasked with making a performance outfit for Zendaya, a Disney pop star who is 17. The look needed to be fun, young, not too racy and easy to dance in. Is it spring yet? Seriously. This is the worst winter ever. I'm so looking forward to spring that I'm excited about rain. I just want the water falling from the sky to be not snow. Lupita Nyong'o and Amy Adams at the Globes and Cyndi Lauper at the Grammys all had something in common -- capes. I can't hide it any more. I suffer from cape lust. (Sorry, Eda Mode .) Capes are simple shapes that provide high drama. Simple drama is my jam. I also happen to swoon for crazy sleeves, but my sleeves and coats are at war. This cannot happen in the year of the POLAR VORTEX ( vortex vortex ). Capes to the rescue. My current goal is to have one of these for spring even if I have to make it myself.
