Artistic Inspiration: Jackson Pollock

The most direct way to pay homage to the work of Jackson Pollock is with paint splatter clothing. You can buy an item already styled that way, or you can do like I've done for weeks and just wear something while you paint. (Have you ever looked at a painter's shoes? They are amazing.) This first set is an evening look with a painted dress. The second is a more casual style with a splattered top.
As always, you can look to art for color inspiration. Many of Pollock's paintings had a black, white or grey base with other colors as the accents. Here I kept the basic outfit in grey tones and added color with accessories. I think it has a good sense of movement as well.
Pollack's work is highly textural. Think chunky knits, tweeds, rouching and ruffles.
