Etsy Find of the Week: ilusoria's Lace Up Socks

Image
It's apparently sock week here at FMF. Jael showed us some fun Knee Socks , and I pondered how much I would pay for them. Esty shop, ilusoria , offers these fun and unique lace up socks. Some are knee length and others are ankle length. There are a lot of two tone socks too, but these green ones (pictured left) are my favorites. I think these socks could be a lot of fun. I'm not sure how I would wear them yet, but I think it'd like to play with them. They're a really interesting idea. These socks cost $30 for the ankle socks or $54 for the knee socks .

Cut Your Hair

Image
Someone I work with recently went from a teased, long-tressed blonde to a jagged edge brunette bob. It aged her at least three years, which is perfect because she's eighteen and just starting out in life. Her new hair is fun and modern but will lend an air of respectability in a professional setting. This isn't the first time I've seen this happen. Young women, especially here in the midwest, are far too attached to their long hair. This is fine if it's well cared for and styled, but if your do for the day is a quick ponytail, chances are it's making you look younger than you'd like. If people constantly ask you how high school is going and you're 25, consider the big chop. How does your hair fit into your life? Do you want to be able to put your hair up for exercising? Would you like bangs? Do you need a hair cut that can transition from day to night? Flip through magazines and find a look you like. Short hair is harder to do yourself. It may look nice one ...

Frye Boot Sale!

Image
I predicted the Frye Ava bootie would be a big seller this year. I might be wrong as Piperlime looks like they want to move them out. They've been discounted from $378 to $301.50 for both the black and olive versions. It's still available in most sizes.

Save or Splurge: Knee Socks

Image
Yesterday, Jael Paris wrote about fun knee socks . Being a girl who loves skirts I'm surprised I don't have more knee socks. They're fun, cute, warm, and they can be worn under pants for extra warmth in the super chilly months. My lack of knee socks must be remedied. Now I just have to figure out how much I'd spend. Socks, overall, are a save for me. I have big feet and often buy "extended size" socks, which I usually find only at Kmart and Kohls. Luckily, both of those stores have great prices. Even super cheap socks usually take a long time wear out. Plus, I usually lose a mate before I actually wear out an entire pair. I'm so prone to losing mates that I almost never buy just one pair of socks. I usually buy two of the same pair and end of with 3 socks. I think even fun, colorful or patterned knee socks can be obtained at good prices. The apt. 9® Argyle Knee-High Trouser Socks from Kohl's (pictured above) are currently on sale for $5.40. That price...

Fearless Vintage

Image
Fearless Vintage has been on Etsy for only a few months, but the owner has been in vintage sales for 35 years. What you see in the shop is a fraction of the inventory, and the owners run the largest vintage shop in Texas with over 100,000 items in stock. The physical store focuses on the 1940s and 50s, Fashion Me Fabulous readers' favorite era, but the Etsy shop is primarily shoes of various decades. If they don't have what you're looking for, drop the owners a line. gold booties $65 black and burgundy oxfords $55

Shoe of the Week: Betsey Johnson 'Tadium' Oxford

Image
Betsey Johnson's cute cut-out oxford with a super high skinny wedge is the kind of shoe that stops me in my tracks as I walk through the shoe department. It's actually done this to me every time I've passed by it in a store. The $248.95 price tag is much to high for me, but that's probably a good thing because I'd be forced to buy this shoe if I could even kind of afford it. They come in navy with black trim, pictured here, or black with brown trim.

Pearl Stack Ring

Image
With the economy taking a downturn, I start thinking about higher end goods. This may seem strange, but it helps me save my money instead of spending it all on $20 goods. Furthermore, the money is spent on classic, quality items even becca would splurge on . Lately, I've focused on jewelry. There are some fun trendy items I like, but I can't imagine spending that money on plastic. Also fun but far more worth the price is this pearl stack ring set in sterling silver by Gretchen Walker on Etsy. For $250 dollars, you get five rings that you can mix and match till your heart's content. The white, peach and mauve will match many outfits. The overall design of circles is certainly fun without being too ostentatious for everyday life. Better start saving.
