Oscars 2014 Red Carpet Round Up

This year's Oscar red carpet was less than exciting. The looks trended toward safe. When I look back to remember this awards season, I doubt any Oscar dresses will come to mind. However, that doesn't mean we didn't like a few things on the red carpet. And we noticed plenty of trends.
This year goes to the guys. Jael and I both picked gents as favorites for reasons of 1) Color, and 2) Well, look at them. Chris Hemsworth donned burgundy while Jared Leto took the white jacket trend up a notch with a pop of red.

Lady Gaga and Krisitin Chenoweth both brought art deco inspiration to the red carpet providing two of the more interesting dresses of the night.

Sadly, most Oscar dresses are photographed still, but some of them can really move. I wasn't a huge fan of Lupita Nyong'o's dress (I think her previous showings this award season were much better), but I loved how it moved. If I put on a dress that moved like that I would have a hard time picking something else. Similarly, I have no idea how Jennifer Garner didn't just spend the entire night sashaying around in her dress. Seriously, I would just walk and walk and walk to make that dress swish and swoosh.

Perhaps the biggest trend was beige and white, which was a bit too sleepy for me. Some stars went to far as to wear silver. The only other color that came close to popping on the carpet was pink. Several stars including Jada Pinkett Smith, Camila Alves McConaughey, Penelope Cruz, and Gaga wore draped pink dresses while Chrissy Teigen was in the pink with a print dress.

Because of the bland runway, here are some who dared to pick bolder tones.

What did you think of the Oscar looks? Did you have a favorite?
