Project Design: Nest Egg

Last week, Jael wrote about bunnies (both the pets and the jewelry) so I thought I'd tackle another Easter theme this week--Eggs. Whether you prefer to dye the real ones, munch the little chocolate ones, gobble the jelly ones, crack open the cream-filled ones or hunt the plastic ones, no doubt you'd be delighted to find one of these egg-themed necklaces in your Easter basket this year. "You Can Wear It Again"

One of my college roommates sent me a book called You Can Wear It Again: A Celebration of Bridesmaids' Dresses by Meg Mateo Ilasco. I must admit I uttered those words to my bridesmaids. The best burgundy fabric we could find was a butterfly brocade, so we ended up making Chinese-style tops (no strapless, backless bra required) and gold skirts. My roommate (on the right) actually wore the top until the zipper died, so maybe I wasn't quite as delusional at these other brides.

The pictures in "You Can Wear It Again" can be a whole lot of fun with a gabby group of girl friends. I plan to cover the pictures in snarky post-it notes and pass it to becca (who will not make me wear satin polka dots and a floppy hat) to do the same. When it makes its way through all our friends, we'll have a great collection of comments.

New York Fashion Week Spring Summer 2011

What it made us think of: If the Village People, drag queens, lingerie models and party girls raced the Tour de France on acid
What we liked: Jackets, socks, classic Betsey Frocks, bright belts, ribcage romper (as a shirt, not a romper--are you listening, buyers?), black & white, oxford shoes, yellow, long dresses, car & gun prints on frilly dresses
What we didn't: "Ride Me" Necklaces (lets hope that's not all we're getting for spring), bare midriffs, mostly sheer dresses
Who: Suno
What it made us think of: How we might still dress if our mothers hadn't insisted we match when heading off to school
What we liked: shoes, prints, swimsuits, sundresses
What we didn't: jumpsuits, pants that looks like clowns pajamas

What it made us think of: Vintage Gwen
What we liked: Bold prints, fun separates, dresses, pants, jackets, bags
What we didn't: bare midriffs, peek-a-boo belly button tops, 90s crop tanks

Why We Love It: Winter. Blarg. It snowed yesterday. It will probably snow today. I'm so done. I want to wear pretty shirts and not freeze to death. These skirts from Sandee Royalty make me think of spring, and anything that makes me thing of spring is super happy right now.
