Milan Fashion Week SS12: Pucci, Luisa Beccaria, Moschino/Cheap & Chic

Who: Emilio Pucci
What it made us think of: Mandella (the best friend from 10 Things I Hate About You, the movie version) if she grew up to be super chic and perhaps living in Italy.
What we liked: Lace, peasant tops, suits, prints, long shorts, trousers, black and white dresses from the end of the collection.
What we didn't: Lace trim shorts, bare midriff, nightgowns as clothing, this
Who: Luisa Beccaria
What it made us think of: The garden tea party of my dreams
What we liked: The lace, the ruffles, the frills, the shoes, the corsets,
What we didn't: Nothing, it was all so sweet and pretty
Who: Moschino
What it made us think of: A folksy, flamenco dancing, matador flower child taking on the wild wild west
What we liked: Matador looks, ruffle wrap dresses, beading
What we didn't: More nightgown dresses, fringe cowboys and Indians costumes
Who: Moschino Cheap & Chic
What it made us think of: Strawberry Shortcake and her produce friends as the latest cast of Project Runway
Thoughts: I can't do a straight list of likes and dislikes. I appreciated the whimsy and some of the clothes are really cute like the flouncy skirts and strawberry print*. Others are a bit too kitschy. Maybe it's because Milan was boring, but the most I look at it, the carrot hat is kind of a fun quirky touch. Also, I enjoyed the electric eye shadow.
*I had a strawberry print purse as a kid. I carried it everywhere, especially to church on Sunday when I brought along my small pink Bible, lace gloves and a dime for the offering plate. On the way out the door, my pastor would fill it with orange jelly beans, which he picked out of the rest of the jelly beans because they were my favorite. Strawberry prints make me feel warm and fuzzy.
