The Horror: Cheap Is Not A Design

I hate clothes dyed like this. Did I make that clear? It's ranked up there on the annoy-o-meter with unfinished hems and pre-worn jeans. Burning, fiery hate. You should see my jaw tense up as I write about this. Forever 21 started peddling good like this years ago. All those little white spaces are because they sprayed the print on after sewing the garment. In many cases, they didn't even bother to straighten stray cloth. Slather on the spackle and sell.

I was shocked (shocked!) when other stores started to sell items process in this cheap way, but people were wearing them. Why? These things are so assembly line, they might as well have gear marks. Not only are women wearing these, they're paying more and more for them. The top pictures is from Macy's and runs around $50. Do not pay that! Cheap is not a design; it's just cheap.

Poor spelling tops my annoy-o-meter. I have a burning, FIERY hatred of poor spelling.

Thanks for being my spell check.

I can't stand these! I don't mind if they're an option for people who want them (I guess), but it really irritates me that almost ALL the shirts at LB are like that. They had several tops I would have bought if not for that--I remember back when you'd find tops at NBC (the cut-price clothing store) for $1 because they'd been misprinted that way, and honestly, that's all I can see when I look at them. :/ Bleah.

P. S. Contentless comments annoy me. :p If you're moved enough to comment on a typo, surely you have something else to say, too.

I also hate that style! It also makes me sad because the rest of the print looks really pretty, and would be something I like, but then there are chunks missing out of it!

I never liked this style though I respect each one taste on fashion, but I do not really get this print, it's so NO chic or flattering at all....

There's another problem with these garments including the higher end versions. They are all designed using horrible thin polyester fabrics. If I am spending money on a dress I want a good quality jersey that is woven from bamboo, rayon, cotton (hard to find) or wool with 10% or less spandex for stretch. These 100% poly fabrics cling everywhere we don't want or need and does not breath. Bad for the summer! Ok stepping off my soapbox now ;)

Re-purpose, I'm on that soapbox too! Target in particular irritates me. Their Merona collection will have some cute cotton dresses that they make unwearable because they line them with cheap polyester. I'd rather cut the lining out and wear a breathable silk slip.

Elizabeth, It makes me sad too. A lot of these tops have pretty fluttery sleeves and prints that I love, but are ruined with the weird white chunks.

Re-purpose, the horrible state of fabrics has me on that soapbox as well. I find myself recoiling when I grab an cute dress and realize it's made of a material that will breathe as well as plastic wrap.
