Mascara Battle!

Mascara's one makeup item many women can't live without. It also has one of the shortest shelf lives. When my standard Maybelline Great Lash (aka the mascara that can't have its packaging updated) needed to be replaced, I thought I'd try something new.

Since I have seasonal eye allergies and flaky mascara makes wearing my contacts even worse, I was excited to find Loreal's Bare Naturale Mineral-Enriched Mascara. It doesn't flake during the day, but the coverage isn't very dramatic either. It's goopy on the brush, so I fear application may become a mess in a month. What's most irritating is that it's difficult to remove, and mascara that's not properly removed flakes. If you're looking for a more natural look or are a blonde who doesn't want to look like you're wearing falsies, give this one a whirl. Bonus, either Amazon is having a sale or their pricing is messed up because as I write this, Bare Naturale mascara is selling for under $1. (It's around $11 in drugstores.)

Using my Beauty Insider card at Sephora, I got a free sample of Hourglass Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara. I felt this mascara made my lashes look thicker and fuller. It's more dramatic than the Loreal, but I wouldn't say it's that much better than the Maybelline I'm used to. It's certainly not $28 better.

I find any Covergirl LashBlast product works WONDERS (except waterproof. Well, technically, it DOES work wonders, I just don't like it).
