Spring 2011 Haute Couture

Armani Prive is usually one of my favorite couture shows. I love the cuts and colors here. The molded leather jackets are squeal-worthy. My only concern is that the fabric is very, very shiny. I can hear the critics crying pajamas! even before any of it hits the red carpet.
Givenchy provided pictures of the front and back of each piece, but I really want detail shots. It appears to be the cloth equivalent of a cut paper collage, but it's difficult to tell what's what when it's in beige. Style.com tells me the what involves gundams and Japanese birds. Now I'm really sad there aren't detail shots.
Chanel frequently comes across as girlish, like a 14-year-old in 1964 who desperately wants to be Audrey. And there's my problem with the brand. I feel like Karl always wants me to be on the cusp of womanhood or someone who came of age when Coco was still designing for Chanel.
If you do it for nothing else, go to style.com (where all these photos are from) and watch the videos of each Dior dress in motion. The way those skirts move! That swish is one of the things I love about being a woman. (Click to bigamajig the tiny pretty.)

Ditto Dior love. Although my favorite Dior show has to be the origami dresses one.
