$150 Challenge: Mosquito Repellent

I'm being eaten alive. By mosquitoes. Not to gross you out, but I don't just get mosquito bites--I get mosquito welts. Huge ones. I'm allergic, very allergic. Therefore, I must dress to repel the evil vampiric insects. Short of walking around with a personal mosquito net* to avoid the nasty buggers, experts suggest covering up as much as possible in loose light-colored clothing.

Covering up in the heat is hard. Stick to lightweight fabrics that breath like this silk and cotton blouse and these cotton and bamboo socks. Find lightweight jeans and fabric shoes. Mosquitoes strike most at dusk and dawn so wear layers that can be removed in the heat of the day and replaced as night falls.

Light colors and loose clothing are equally important to covering up. Mosquitoes are less likely to be attracted to light colors, which are also cooler than heat-absorbing darks. Avoid tight fitting clothes because mosquitoes can still bite through them. Plus, tighter fits tend to be warmer.

Oh, I hate those nasty little vampires! I also am alergic to their bites and the doctors also told me to cover up. But how can you cover up in the middle of the summer?!
