Wrapping Up Milan Fashion Week
Zipper trim gowns from Versace Spring/Summer 2009 were some of my favorite dresses of the season. This season's crinkled coats and draped dresses aren't as distinct, but they're certainly pretty. The paillettes and faux zipper gowns are the looks to watch.
Although Fendi started as a furrier, their clothing has been top-notch for years. This is not one of those seasons. Even the shoes and bags, where Fendi makes most of its money, were dull. Some pieces were nice, but aside from the frayed cashmere blend fabric, the show lacked continuity.
SHOULDERS! Did you hear? Designers envision big SHOULDERS for Fall/Winter 2009. Dolce & Gabbana are tackling this trend as subtly as possible. Or I'm snarky. I'm curious to see this in the wild as Dolce & Gabbana are the go-to designers for many celebrities. The sheer black dresses are the most likely canidates; they return to the designers' signature blantant sex-bomb factor.
