Golden Globes Trends

Fishtail hems were big on the red carpet. Personally, I liked the late Victorian look it lent to some of the dresses. The key to pulling the style off is to look demure, not bound.
Drew Barrymore, Renee Zellweger, and Kate Beckinsale could very well have been wearing sneakers.

Belts with a dress are just fine, but make sure it serves a purpose. These ladies either added interest or definition with their belts. Too many women (Rumer Willis and Kyra Segwick, for example) seemed to be slapping belts here and there with little to no thought.
Kate Winslet, 13 and Cuddy used belts to great effect.

kate beckinsale just looks like a poor man's victoria beckham here.

October is the perfect month for anyone who loves a dramatic look. Because of Halloween, you can get away with more in the makeup department than you can the rest of the year. You want to try false eyelashes? Go for it. You want to color your eyebrows? Do it. Color outside the lines with eyeshadow? Why not? Live it up so much in October that people will think black lipstick in November is practically normal.
