Graduate from the Backpack

While you're busy at Bed, Bath & Beyond buying sheets, towels and an essential hotpot, don't forget how important your bag will be for college. It's nice to have a few hours between classes, but some semesters you just have enough time to run from Psych 101 to Theories of Early Childhood Development on the other side of campus. Until the textbook world jumps onto the idea of the Kindle, this means you'll be lugging around the fattest books you'll ever own. Spare your back and your sense of style by getting switching out your high school back pack for a messenger or oversized tote. You can save money and get something fun and funky for college, or you could invest in a good bag that you can carry over into your career.

The only thing I have to say about this is make sure it'll hold all your books, while not totally killing your shoulder, especially if your running all over campus. I couldn't live without my HelloKitty messenger bag, but I had several bags before I found the one I liked.
