Save or Splurge: Lip Plumping Gloss

Call it the Angelina Jolie syndrome; people are on a mission to get full, luscious lips. Since the puckered-up celebrity lip injections are pricey (and ridiculous looking), most women turn to a lip plumping gloss for that luscious look. There is great debate over whether or not this stuff works. Some women swear by, others swear it's a hoax.

Regardless of how it works, it seems to come in every price range. You can buy Sally Hansen Lip Inflation for $5.99 at most drugstores but cheaper at Target, Soap & Glory's Sexy Mother Pucker (winner for best name) for $9.99 at Target, Duwop's Lip Venom for $16 at stores like Sephora, Victoria's Secret Very Voluptuous Lip Plumper for $18 or Dior's Lip Maximizer for $29 from stores like Sephora or Dior counters at department stores.

I don't really need a lip plumper, but for curiosity's sake I tried several. It should be noted that make up sales associates are not receptive to a woman with full lips trying a lip plumper. I've gotten several dirty looks. I've tried all of these and a few others except for Sally Hansen Lip Inflation and Duwop's Lip Venom. They all seem similar. The Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker tingles the most, if that means anything. However, the Dior gloss was the nicest. If you want nice Dior gloss though, you can buy the normal gloss for half the price, which I highly reccomend. I'd like to give the Sally Hansen a spin, but it's not out for testing at a make up counter so I'll have to buy it if I really want to give it a try. Have any of you tried it?

I guess for plump lips via a tingling gloss I would say save a much as you can if you're going to buy it. However, I might pop a few extra dollars for the Sexy Mother Pucker -- just for the name.

What do you think? Would you spend for lip plumping gloss? Or would you rather splurge on a nice gloss without the plumping claims?

I'd have given you dirty looks too. Of course, my first words to you were "You're not wearing makeup? I hate you."

Haha, those were your first words to becca?? That's great!

I think lip plumping gloss is pretty silly, honestly ;)

Yeah, I was getting in her car to go to a conference with people I didn't know and she tells me she hates me.

Thanks for the review.

My personal fave lip plumper is this one: http://www.salonhive.com/cushy-lips.html

I love how it is so gentle on my lips (no burning here!) and it works so well.
