The Passing of a Legend

In case you don't know much about fashion history, here's why you should care: le smoking (pictured right). While Saint Laurent had an illustrious career at Christian Dior in the 1950 and tremendous success with his own label from the 1960s on, it was this suit, made in 1966, that is credited with making pants appropriate dress attire for women. Until this time, pants were just for work or leisure. Now you can forgo a skirt whenever you feel like it without being heckled or jeered.
