A halter top is one of those items that seems to listed as a "don't wear" in most dress codes. However, it is also a summer staple in many wardrobes. I'm assuming the reasons the halter is banned in many schools and workplaces are the open back, bare shoulders and assumed deep v neckline. I find this unfair to the halter. I only own one halter top and it comes all the way up to my neck. It also looks quite cute with cardigans. If my workplace banned them, I'm sure they would never noticed I had layered a halter top under other clothing. Still, of all the summer shirts out there, the dress code ban on halter tops makes them a little less versatile than most. I've also had a hard time finding halter tops I would dare wear outside of the context of a casual summer day (but maybe that's just me). For me, this makes halter tops a save. I'd rather spurge on a nice sleeveless top that I can layer under suit coats and sweaters come winter. Do you save or splur...

I'll be honest, I love these bubble shorts unequivocally. They are hippy, full, and glorious. The color is rich, and they're actually made of silk. They wouldn't cling to me horrifically as shorts are wont to do in summer. Come winter, I would wear them with brown leather boots, mustard tights, and a navy top. Oh yes. Plus, they're only $29 from Twelve by Twelve. One a scale of one to ten, one being perfectly normal and ten being Tom Cruise crazy , how much of a nutter am I?

This weekend Jael Paris and I have been celebrating Hallowgivingmas in July. This is a hybrid holiday of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. While this holiday normally takes place in the fall, we decided to have this year's party in July. Because of the extensive partying, we are taking a vacation day. We'll be back Tuesday. My friend, Lori, recently purchased these tie oxfords by Miss Me . She thinks they'll go with lots of things, but when her family expressed doubt, her mind went blank. To help her out, I've put together a handful of looks for her new shoes. Lori's nickname is Cheshire Cat, so one of my styles uses an animal print and two pieces of feline jewelry. Last week Jael Paris asked how old you had all been when you started wearing makeup. This made me recall my first attempts at putting on makeup when I was fourteen. My instinct has been to start with blue eyeshadow and pink lipstick (I blame Barbie for this), but I toned everything down before I left the house, which I still thank myself for doing. Even though I played with my makeup at home for outrageous looks, I walked out of the house looking almost natural (almost). What did your first attempts look like?
