$150 Challenge: Reading Under A Tree

Recently, Jael Paris put together a collection of fall inspiration looks. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to use those same looks as inspiration for $150 Challenges. When Jael makes her inspiration look she chooses pieces for their style without worrying about how much they cost, which is why her look costs over $6,000.

I kept cost low by replacing the signature sweater coat in her look with a versatile, but still interesting cardigan. I added an affordable belt to get a similar look and a basic tee to go underneath. These still make a statement, but they are also more versatile and can be used in other parks of your wardrobe. I went for cheaper, but still great jeans from Old Navy. (You probably already have a basic tee, belt and jeans so you can even save a few dollars there). While I'd love to own the $500 Badgley Mischka satchel, I swapped it for a cute messenger from Target, which is great for carrying all those books. I traded the designer jewelry for some similarly glittering baubles from Forever 21. The boots from the inspiration set are actually an affordable $80, but since that's more than half my budget I chose a cozy pair of sweater boots. The entire real-life look based on our inspiration costs $153.36.
