Milan Fashion Week SS12: Versace, Gianfranco Ferré, Marni

Who: Versace
What it made us think of: Southern debutantes of Atlantis
What we liked: white with gold studs, not beating the sea theme to death, most of the bags, the shoes (with a caveat)
What we didn't: Shock! I hated the colors. Not a shock: I hated the booty shorts. The lucite stripper platforms on the shoes were also blah.Who: Gianfranco Ferré
What it made us think of: A female James Bond does casual reconnaissance.
What we liked: crisp white, plays on traditional shirting, long belts, metallics, flowing cuts, square bangles,
What we didn't: While lovely, this is the office-friendly version of what Haider Ackermann did just last season. Bruise-like makeup is not a good idea. Cocktail gilly suit?Who: Marni
What it made us think of: Project Runway 1964. Materials challenge: bathroom
What we liked: shoes, retro silhouettes, geometric prints, bright colors, sunglasses
What we didn't: odd slip layers, 60s floral prints, embellished skirts like bathmats, beige hospital socks
