New York Fashion Week SS12: Anna Sui, Betsey Johnson, Nicole Miller

Who: Anna Sui
What it made us think of: Would be Rita Hayworth's clamoring to get noticed at a chic club in the 1940s
What we liked: Shoes, suits, fun luggage, socks, shoes, pants, ruffles, tops, shoes
What we didn't: Bras at tops, some too Lolita-like details like star front shorts and glitter butterfly nylons.
Who: Betsey Johnson
What it made us think of: The Mean Girls quote, " In Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress up like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it."
What we liked: A few cute looks (pictured), probably the jewelry if I could see it in more detail.
What we didn't: I usually love Betsey's quirky, crazy looks, but I feel like I could assemble most of this collection at Halloween USA.
Who: Nicole Miller
What it made us think of: MIA (or a version of her that occasionally goes to the office).
What we liked: Geometric prints, mix of crazy and wearable
What we didn't: Some of it got to wild to wear, but it was still fun to look at.

My favorite of the three is the Anna Sui collection. I love the vintage look. I agree with you on the whole Lolita thing. I'm not into that.

I don't know what you mean about the Sui shoes, becca. You should just ignore them come spring and I'll [buy them all] take care of them for you.

October is the perfect month for anyone who loves a dramatic look. Because of Halloween, you can get away with more in the makeup department than you can the rest of the year.
