Manicure Inspiration

We're a little obsessed with nails lately, so much so, we might as well rent a bunch of chick flicks and talk boys while we paint.

For a twist on your traditional French manicure, try switching up the colors, making the base nude and coloring your tips, or making the tips a pattern.

Growing in popularity after a few runway appearances is the half moon manicure. This involves painting a semi-circle towards the nail bed. (Use any circle sticker from an office supply store as your shape guide.) I love the ones with bold contrasts or tonal shifts, but the bare moons just make the nail look odd from a distance.If either of these sound too ambitious, try a simple gradient. Grab colors you have in abundance and paint each nail a different shade of the same hue.

October is the perfect month for anyone who loves a dramatic look. Because of Halloween, you can get away with more in the makeup department than you can the rest of the year. You want to try false eyelashes? Go for it. You want to color your eyebrows? Do it. Color outside the lines with eyeshadow? Why not? Live it up so much in October that people will think black lipstick in November is practically normal.
