Makeup Guides For Non-Caucasians

While waiting in the doctor's office, I bided my time flipping through a bevy of fashion-adjacent back issues. After so many makeup editorials, I realized they never specified what shade of skin the makeup is for, but they're all for the same mid-toned white women.

A few months ago I bought some tinted eye cream. It's for a complexion darker than mine, so it actually makes my eyes look tired. Tricks and tips that are good for some can go haywire on others. Likewise, trendy colors of makeup will look different on different skin tones. In fact, Yves Saint Laurent scrapped their planned purple lip for the fall runway because it didn't work on everyone in their diverse cast of models.

I'm a pale girl, and I don't feel comfortable giving makeup advice for skin I don't live in. (Most of our hair tips are for curly hair for the same reason.) While you'll find my well of knowledge dry on makeup tips for other skin tones, more qualified people than I have dove into this topic before. The books below cover makeup and skin care for a wide variety of races and skin tones within those races.
