Dress the Nominee: Grammy 2010

I adore Carrie Underwood for not always playing it safe (except for whatever boringness befell her at the Globes). She loves glitz, big dresses and playing around. She can hit all those notes in Dior haute couture. They may not be heavy with sequins, but either of these big gowns (and really if someone's going to wear one, one of the current chart queens is a good bet) will get her noticed.
Don't even get me started on Katy Perry's nomination. I'm going to try to find her a classy yet fun dress without breaking into a rage of OMG ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!! SHE SHOULD ONLY BE NOMINATED FOR BEST USE OF AUTO TUNE!!!!! Too late. And breathe. I will at least give her props for trying to dress more grown up on the red carpet lately. Either this Alexis Mabille couture embellished extravaganza or this scroll work beauty form Marchesa (both with cotton candy pink tones, of course) would continue that trend.
When you're a new but rising star in country music, a full adult woman who doesn't play princess, and you're attending an event with the above (and let's not forget heavy fashion hitters like Lady Gaga and Rihanna), what on earth do you wear? Last year, Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum answered that question with an understated Alexander McQueen. I think even with all her nominations and her performance this year, she'll need a knock out dress to keep control of her bit of spot-light. Both this subtle, velvety animal print by Andrew Gn and this purple sequin number from Reem Acra will garner attention for a classy adult.
Alicia Keys' attempts to dress herself seem to come out more awkward than accomplished. Fabric ends up straining and bunching where it shouldn't and such a lovely lady doesn't need that. She's not afraid of color and loves to play with her clothes, so let's see if we can steer her onto some best dressed lists. Since Keys frequently dabbles in styles from around the globe, she may try this embellished Jean Paul Gaultier couture from a recent world travel themed show. Forget the color of the night. Just wear them all with his bright gown from Naeem Khan.Janelle Monae does not need my help. She will wear an awesome tux and all the catty girls will rip her apart online, but she will still have more resplendence in her pinky nail than they can dream of. Proof:

I LOVE that purple dress for Hillary Scott! I'd love to see Carrie Underwood in either of your dress choices for her. I really think that she could pull off both of them.
