New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2010

Who: Reem Acra
What it made us think of: The money situation has to be hard on evening wear designers
What we liked: Acra compensated for fewer red carpet gowns with more formal jacket and skirt sets.
What we didn't: It rarely felt elegant. It would have been better to have a smaller show with stronger pieces.Who: Toni Maticevski
What it made us think of: A little Miu Miu, a little Elie Saab
What we liked: pleats, Princess Leia slave bras, chiffon
What we didn't: Balance the funk a little more so these dresses will appear on the red carpet.Who: Bibhu Mohapatra
What it made us think of: 1920s daywear with a modern twist.
What we liked: The choice of accessories was spot on. Harnesses, great coats, sharp tailoring. This designer gets better and better each season.
Who: Naeem Khan
What it made us think of: Mongolian red carpet event.
What we liked: An extensively embellished leather jacket, gold trim, mega boots with cocktail dresses
What we didn't: Adornment can't replace design, and the basic look here was simple.
