Love or Loathe: Goth Glam

In junior high I went through a phase wherein I always wanted to wear black velvet or items covered in Victorian style lace. I was a little gothic princess and didn't even know it. No doubt middle school me would love this corseted, laced, ruffled gown from Bebe. I'd originally clicked on it because the look book image made it look like a sexy off-the-shoulder mini dress. Alas, it seems to be a mourning dress for the World War I bride. Seventh grade me covets it; adult me wants to gag. You? And if you love it, where would you wear it?

This seems to be a dress that would be much improved if you chopped the skirt into an almost-mini.

I have to say, I whole-heartedly disagree. I kind of love the dress, myself. While simultaneously being totally aware that it would sit in my closet and I would never, ever wear it. But I'd take it out and look at it longingly once in a while...

I love the idea of goth glam, but I'm not in favor of this particular dress. The style and fit is a little too Renaissance for my liking.

The dress is gorgeous.

As it is, I would wear it to a rennaissance festival, or a funeral.

If you chop off the sleeves, evening wear, with some accessories.

If you chop the bottom off to mid-thigh and pair with edgy boots, I would wear it anywhere, especially if you add a funky hat that is distinctly not victorian.

Love the goth glam! The styling in the first picture on the bebe site makes the dress look completely different; the model in this picture looks like she's playing dress-up. If you're going to wear styles like this, you have to commit.

Theora, I think that's my whole issue. This model looks like teenage me in a fussy dress. The other model was quite compelling; she owned Mistress of the Dark.
