New York Fashion Week Favorites So Far

Naeem Khan makes pretty, pretty dresses but doesn't get the attention of red carpet kings like Badgley Mischka or Marchesa. So look! Pretty! The shoes and scroll prints are equally yummy.
Things I'm loving at Zac Posen: sparkly tights, tonal use of color, layered textures, belts, colorful shoes, sparkly sheer boots, Victorian details, Alek Wek on the runway.
Catherine Malandrino focused on airy black netting for Fall Winter 2009. Close attention to folds, pleats and tucks with the material created figure flattering details. The pink and purple pieces felt flat and boring compared to the neutral numbers. I'd give her bonus points for using and Escher print, but I'm just going to knock the collection later for the strange hand dresses.
Rounding out this deeply lovely post is American classic Oscar de la Renta. The choice of hair style certainly screamed "Ladies who lunch!", but I still appreciate that classic nature of his coats, separates and dresses. (Several other designers have featured uber shiny pants. I smell trend!)
