New York Fashion Week Favorites So Far

This is the first time Bibhu Mohapatra has shown at fashion week, but he's certainly a designer to watch. Each look pops with personality. Pleats, tucks and folds abound. The colors are a blend of blues, blacks and greenish mustards. In a few seasons, we'll be seeing his gowns on the red carpet.
Yigal Azrouel has been showing for a few years, but I've never really looked at his shows. After an hour or so of thinking about his collection, all I can say is this: I like his pared down casual cool.
Things I love about Charlotte Ronson's show: tough chic footwear, elbow-length gloves, zipper details, that silver shearling jacket, sweater dresses. Things I'm not into from her show: lumberjack jammie plaid, cuts and slashes reminiscent of tee-shirts circa 2001, 90's florals done wrong.
Alexander Wang's Fall/Winter runway was ultra black and body conscious. I don't have the figure for this style, but if I were a tall, thin woman, I'd be all over some of these. In fact, I'm tempted to email my tall, thin roommate some of the images. She can skip the biker shorts and jackets with fur dangles. The best looks here are the rock star leathers and sexy dresses.
