Get the Look For Prom

With the Oscars over, many off us are finished with evening gowns until the Emmys. But high school students are gearing up for the full swing of prom season. If that's you and a celebrity dress piqued your interest, here's the look for less.

Newcomer Freida Pinto wore a stunning Christian Lacroix Haute Couture dress to the Golden Globes. While that mustard color will not work on most women, you could try this citron party dress by Penelope Couture at Neiman Marcus for $330. Pickups and folds are easier to wear. Look for a short and sweet bubble dress like this olive number by Dave and Johnny for $130.
Miley Cyrus's strapless Marchesa was a perfect blend of sweet and sexy. For a similar look focus on a simple column shape with bold gold details. This gown by Flip sells for $278 on eDressMe.
Taylor Swift's sexy and sophisticated black gown by Kaufman Franco had a leather strap detail around the bust. If you want a similar detail in your prom dress, try La Femme's cut out dress at eDressMe for $278. This style works best on smaller breasted women, unless you want to look like you're working every last bit you have.
Jennifer Hudson wore a short cocktail dress from RM by Roland Mouret at the Grammy Awards. It has color-blocking, intricate folds and a gorgeous fit. The dress is still available in different colors at Far Fetch if you're interested in paying almost $2000. Marc Bower's "Glamit!" dress is a slightly more affordable color-block choice for $495 on eDressMe. Newport News, of all places, has a two-tone ruffle dress for $127. All you need is a silver belt.
Marissa Tomei's Oscar dress by Versace was covered in beautiful pleats. I'm sure all the sewing and ironing that went into that gown makes it "price upon request." If you want pleats for your big night, A.B.S. has a long dress with a pleat bodice on Bluefly for $216.75. Nicole Miller's pewter cocktail dress is a better color match, but the pleat work is more abstract. It's $191.25 on Bluefly.
Good news! If you went gaga for Eva Longoria's tomato red fishtail gown at the Golden Globes, you can purchase a replica at eDressMe for $320. That same store is carrying good copies of Kate Winslet's Gloden Globe and Oscar dresses (both pictured), Amy Adam's Oscar dress (no necklace), Angelina Jolie's Golden Globes sack, and Jennifer Lopez's Golden Globes gown.
