Love or Loathe: Jelly Gladiator Sandals

My first instinct was to make this post "The Horror: Jelly Gladiator Sandals." However, I don't really have anything against the gladiator part. It's just the jelly part. Jelly sandals are from my childhood. They held up to any terrain, but they also ensured sweaty feet. Not a terrible thing at five, but I'm not five anymore.

Also, Jelly Gladiators are invading.

Givenchy made some ($165):

Marc by Marc Jacobs made them too ($?.??):

Top Shop has a pair (about $19.50 USD):

Even Old Navy is in on the action ($19.50):

So what do you think? Is this is fashionable shoe that can stand up to anything? Or should this gladiator be taken out of the battle?

Two things that do not go together: Plastic and my feet. I've even stopped with plastic flip-flops unless I'm swimming. I can't stand the sticking feeling. The style is cute, but the plastic would be unbearable.

Plastic shoes are only okay if you are planning on getting your feet wet while wearing them. Of course, I'm not going to make mud pies and catch turtles in the creek with my cousins in $165 shoes either.

Ditto the plastic comments. A few of the more feminine takes on this sandal are kind of pretty, but I really don't think I'd wear them.
