Is This the Return of Posh Hats?

Maybe it was because of the death of stylist Isabella Blow, but the S/S 08 runways were full of elaborate hats. left to right: Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Christian Lacroix, Ralph Lauren
Runways are spectacles, and are thus the extreme version of trends. If you'd like to try something that's not as common as a newsboy, fedora or beret, here are some tamer versions to experiment with:
pink with black feather, Urban Outfitters $28
grey grommet beanie, Prada, Yoox $210
black straw hat, Yoox $86
brown and teal floppy hat, Bloomingdale's $49.99
black cloche with contrast trim, Bluefly $36

Of course, when looking for an extravagant hat, you should always look in vintage shops and thrift stores.
peach feathered and veiled cloche 1940s, Alley Cat Vintage $75
blue pillbox 1960s, Adore Vintage $45
wide brim red felt 1970s, Posh Girl Vintage $125
black velvet with green feathers and silver brooch 1930s, Alley Cat Vintage $45
auburn and pheasant feather toque 1950s, Alley Cat Vintage $65
teal whimsy with veil 1960s, Alley Cat Vintage $25

I want to try a floppy hat. I love how they look. I don't know if it would work for me or not though.
